The European Foundation for the Care of Newborn Infants (EFCNI) is the first pan-European organisation to represent the interests of preterm and newborn infants and their families. It gathers together parents and health professionals from different disciplines with the common goal of improving long-term health of preterm and newborn children by ensuring the best possible prevention, treatment, care and support (http://www.efcni.org/).
PEARL is now a Collaboration Partner with EFCNI with the goal of improving pain management for preterm and newborn children. Mats Eriksson is also designated as member of the Scientific Advisory Board of EFCNI.
Lene Tandle Lyngstad and Solfrid Steinnes are setting up a new project with the aims to translate the instrument into Norwegian according to Wild`s 10 steps, and consequently assess content validity by focus group interviews, and to culturally adapt The Comfort Neo pain Scale into a Norwegian NICU setting.
In order to provide newborn infants with correct pain alleviation there is a need for reliable and easy-to-use tools to assess the pain. We are comparing Galvanic Skin Response (GSR) and Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS) with Premature Infant Profile-Revised (PIPP-R). Read more.
